Charging at home in Toronto

Which charger fits a Toronto home?

Many Toronto homes were built long before EVs, so smaller electrical panels and detached garages reached by a laneway are common. An electrician will check your panel capacity first, and the hardwired version of our charger is a good fit when the garage sits away from the house. If you park on the street or in a condo, talk to your building or the City about options before ordering.

The Standard Charger (40A) suits most homes, and the Ultra Charger (48A) charges faster on a larger, hardwired circuit. The Standard comes in a NEMA 14-50 plug version or a hardwired version.

Questions from Toronto drivers

How does the refundable deposit work?

You pay a deposit at checkout: $350 for the Standard Charger or $600 for the Ultra. Once you have charged 1,500 kWh, your full deposit is refunded.

How do I get paid?

You earn 3¢/kWh until you reach 1,500 kWh, paid as a lump sum along with your deposit refund. After that you earn 11¢/kWh on everything you charge, paid out in $100 increments.

Will it work with my car?

Choose the J1772 connector for almost every non-Tesla EV, or the NACS (Tesla-style) connector for Teslas and newer models with a NACS port.

Which charger should I choose?

The Standard Charger (40A) suits most homes and can plug into an existing NEMA 14-50 outlet. Choose the Ultra (48A) if you want the fastest charging and have room for a 60A circuit.

Can I install it outside?

Yes. Both chargers have a NEMA 3R outdoor-rated enclosure and can be mounted on a wall or a post.

Do I have to use DashSharing installation?

No. Any Licensed Electrical Contractor can install it. Our installation and replacement service is an optional extra available across the GTA.
