Installation and Onboarding Guide

Installing your DashSharing Level 2 EV charger is a straightforward process. Follow this comprehensive guide or engage a certified professional electrician to ensure a safe and successful setup.

Important Safety Notice

If you are not experienced or comfortable working with electrical systems, we strongly recommend hiring a licensed electrician. Improper installation can create serious safety hazards, violate local codes, and void your product warranty.

Earn From Day One & Secure Your Investment

Your DashSharing Smart Charger is designed to generate immediate value:

  1. Universal Base Rate: You earn a base rate for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) delivered by your charger, whether you are charging your own vehicle (private use) or sharing it with a public user.

  2. Cost Recovery Guarantee: Your upfront purchase cost is secured. Once your charger has delivered a cumulative total of 2,500 kWh (from any combination of private or public sessions), the original purchase price will be refunded to you.

To unlock earnings and the cost recovery guarantee, you must complete the Network Activation steps in Part 2 of this guide.

Prerequisites & Tools

  • DashSharing Level 2 EV Charger (included)

  • A dedicated 240V circuit (50 amp breaker recommended)

  • Appropriate gauge wiring (consult local electrical codes)

  • Mounting hardware (included)

  • Conduit and junction boxes (as required by local codes)

  • Basic tools: drill, level, wire strippers, screwdrivers

Part 1: Physical Installation

Step 1: Select Installation Location

  • Choose a site within cable reach of your vehicle’s parking spot.

  • Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound (e.g., concrete, brick, or wood studs).

  • Consider environmental factors (weather exposure) and ensure the location allows the cable to connect easily to the vehicle's charging port.

Step 2: Prepare Electrical Supply

  • Install a dedicated 240V circuit from your main electrical panel to the charger location.

  • Use the correct wire gauge based on circuit length and amperage (50-amp breaker recommended).

  • Crucial: All work must comply with local electrical codes and permit requirements. Consider installing a disconnect switch near the charger.

Step 3: Mount the Charging Unit

  • Use a level to position the mounting bracket correctly.

  • Mark and drill pilot holes, then securely fasten the bracket to the wall.

  • Attach the charger unit to the bracket and ensure all hardware is tightened.

Step 4: Electrical Wiring

  • TURN OFF POWER at the main circuit breaker panel.

  • Run conduit (if required) and pull wires from the panel to the charger.

  • Connect the wires (Line 1, Line 2, Ground) to the charger terminals according to the provided wiring diagram.

  • Verify all connections are secure and properly insulated before attaching the final cover plate.

Step 5: Test and Initialize

  1. Restore power at the circuit breaker.

  2. Confirm the charger powers on by checking its indicator lights.

  3. Connect the charger to your local Wi-Fi network using the instructions in the package.

  4. Perform a functional test by connecting it to your electric vehicle, or using a test device with one of the provided RFID cards.

Part 2: Network Activation & Onboarding

To track your usage, enable earnings, and qualify for the cost recovery guarantee, you must activate your charger on the DashSharing network.

  1. Download the DashCharger application from your device’s app store.

  2. Create a new Host account or log in to an existing one.

  3. Follow the in-app setup wizard.

  4. Activate and Register Your Charger:

    • Navigate to “Profile” > “Add Charger.”

    • Enter the unique Charger ID (found on the shipping label and displayed during Wi-Fi setup—please verify carefully).

    • Register one of the two provided RFID cards (the primary card) to bind the charger to your ownership.

    • Perform a remote start command via the app to finalize the binding process.

  5. Upon successful activation:

    • You will begin earning the base rate for all kWh delivered.

    • Your cumulative kWh total will begin counting toward the 2,500 kWh cost recovery milestone.

    • Your charger defaults to Private Mode.

    • Your earnings and usage dashboard will be accessible in the Host Portal.

Optional: Enable Public Sharing (Amplify Your Earnings)

To increase your earnings by listing your charger for public use on the DashSharing network:

  1. Access the Host web portal.

  2. Set Availability: Define your charger’s public access schedule and set your public pricing (which is added on top of the base rate).

  3. Manage Payments: Ensure your direct deposit information is updated to receive combined payments (base earnings + public sharing revenue).

Part 3: Professional Installation Assistance

  • Obtain quotes from certified installers to ensure compliance with all local codes and permit requirements.

  • Professional installation may be required to maintain full warranty coverage.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Charger Not Powering On: Verify the circuit breaker is ON, check all wire connections, and confirm 240V power at the outlet.

  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Ensure strong signal strength at the installation site, confirm correct network credentials, and try restarting the charger.

  • Charger Not Found in App: Confirm the charger is connected to Wi-Fi, verify you are logged into the correct Host account, and ensure the Charger ID was entered accurately.

  • No Earnings or Usage Tracking: Ensure your charger is correctly activated in the app and connected to Wi-Fi. All usage is automatically tracked once activated.
