About DashSharing
What is DashSharing?
DashSharing is building a connected ecosystem for electric vehicle charging. We provide a smart Level 2 charger that is designed to create value for owners through a base earnings program, while also contributing to a collaborative, user-powered network that supports broader EV adoption and sustainability goals.

How does the DashSharing model work?
When you purchase, install, and activate a DashSharing Smart Charger, it begins tracking all energy delivered. This enables two primary value streams:

  1. Base Earnings: The charger is configured to facilitate a base rate for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) it provides, which applies to both personal and optional public use.

  2. Cost Recovery Path: We have established a model where the original purchase price may be recovered after the charger delivers 2,500 kWh of total energy.

  3. Optional Sharing: Owners can choose to list their charger on the public network to provide community access and earn additional session fees on top of the base rate.

Becoming an Owner & Value Creation
What is the initial cost?
The main upfront cost is the purchase of the DashSharing Smart Charger. You may also have installation costs, which vary based on your electrical setup.

How does the cost recovery work?
Your initial purchase is structured with a path to cost recovery. After your charger has delivered a cumulative total of 2,500 kWh of energy (from any combination of personal and optional public use), the original purchase price is eligible to be refunded to you.

How do the base earnings work?
For every kilowatt-hour (kWh) delivered by your validated charger, it is configured to earn a base rate. This base rate applies to all energy delivered, whether for your private vehicle or, if you choose, for public users. This mechanism is connected to carbon credit programs that support sustainable energy initiatives. Please note that this base rate is subject to change based on government policy and carbon credit market values.

Can I just use the charger privately?
Yes. Upon activation, your charger defaults to private mode for your personal use. You will still be on the path to cost recovery and accrue base earnings for your private charging activity.

Do I have to share my charger with the public?
No. Public sharing is completely optional. You can use the charger solely for your personal vehicle. Choosing to share it publicly is a separate setting you can enable at any time to increase your earnings and support the community network.

If I share publicly, how is pricing set?
For public (shared) sessions, DashSharing suggests competitive pricing for your area based on local market data. You earn this public session fee in addition to the base rate for the energy delivered.

How much can I earn?
Earnings vary based on usage. All owners accrue the base rate on all kWh delivered and work toward the 2,500 kWh cost recovery milestone. Owners who optionally share publicly can earn additional revenue from session fees, which depend on factors like location, availability, and local demand.

Can I control when my charger is available to the public?
Yes, completely. If you choose to share publicly, you have full control over your charger's availability through the Host dashboard. You can set schedules or block it for personal use at any time.

Installation & Setup
What's included with my charger purchase?
Each charger includes the Level 2 charging unit, mounting hardware, a charging cable, two RFID cards, and access to the DashCharger app for activation and management.

Can I install the charger myself?
If you are experienced and comfortable with electrical work and local codes, you may follow our installation guide. We generally recommend hiring a licensed electrician to ensure safety and compliance.

Do you provide installation services?
We can connect you with certified electricians in your area who are familiar with EV charger installations. Contact our support team for referrals.

What are the electrical requirements?
You will need a dedicated 240V circuit with a 40-50 amp breaker, installed according to all local electrical codes.

Using the Network & Technology
How do I activate and manage my charger?
After installation, you download the DashCharger app, create an account, and follow the in-app setup to activate your charger by entering its unique ID. This connects it to the network for usage tracking and management.

What if my WiFi goes offline?
A continuous internet connection is required for the charger to report usage data to the network, which is necessary for tracking base earnings and cost recovery progress. If WiFi is disconnected, this data cannot be synced until connectivity is restored, though basic charging functions may remain operational.

Can I monitor usage remotely?
Yes. The DashCharger app and web dashboard allow you to monitor your charger's status, track energy delivery (kWh), and view earnings.

What vehicles are compatible?
Our chargers use the standard J1772 connector, compatible with all electric vehicles in North America, including Teslas with the provided adapter.

Are the chargers weatherproof?
Yes, all our chargers are rated for outdoor use and can withstand various weather conditions.

Support & Policies
What kind of support do you provide?
We offer customer support for setup, technical questions, and general assistance. Contact us via email at support@dashsharing.ca or through the help section in the app.

Are there any ongoing fees?
There are no monthly subscription fees. DashSharing retains a portion of the public session fee (when applicable) to cover payment processing, platform maintenance, and support. The base earnings and cost recovery model are not subject to this fee.

Can I stop sharing my charger publicly?
Yes. You can disable public sharing at any time through your dashboard, with no penalties. Your charger will remain in private mode, continuing to track energy for base earnings and cost recovery.

What about taxes?
You are responsible for reporting any earnings according to your local tax regulations. We provide detailed reports of your earnings for your records.
