DashSharing Mobile App – Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 30, 2026
DashSharing Inc. ("we", "us", "our") operates the DashSharing mobile app for members who license DashSharing EV chargers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our app.
By using the DashSharing app, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you register as a member, we collect:
- Identity & Contact Details: Full name, email address, phone number, and the physical address where your charger is installed.
- Payment Information: Banking details (institution number, transit number, account number) so we can pay your earnings by direct deposit. We do not collect credit card information because DashSharing is for members only.
- Verification Documents: Government-issued ID or other documentation to verify your identity and eligibility for the DashSharing Program.
- Site Authorization: Your digital signature granting us permission to install, access, maintain, and remove the charger at your property.
- Account Credentials: Username and password (stored securely).
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the app, we automatically collect:
- Device Information: IP address, device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFA for iOS, Android Ad ID).
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app – which screens you visit, features you use, session duration, and crash logs.
- Charger Data: Operational information from your DashSharing Level 2 charger, including charging session start/stop times, kWh delivered, connection status, Wi-Fi signal strength, and error messages.
- Location Data (Precise GPS): We collect your device’s precise geolocation only with your explicit permission. This helps us verify your installation address and coordinate with electricians. You can enable or disable location access anytime in your device settings.
- Push Notification Tokens: A unique token for your device (Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android, Apple Push Notification Service for iOS) so we can send you alerts about charging sessions and balance updates.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Provide and manage your member account – register your charger, track kWh delivered, calculate earnings.
- Process payments – send your earnings by direct deposit to your bank account.
- Coordinate charger installation and maintenance – share your address and site access details with licensed electricians.
- Send important notifications – push notifications about charging sessions (start/stop), low balance warnings, and billing reminders.
- Respond to customer support requests – troubleshoot issues with your charger or app.
- Improve the app – analyse usage patterns and crash reports to fix bugs and enhance features.
- Verify your identity – comply with legal requirements and prevent fraud.
- Comply with legal obligations – such as tax reporting or responding to lawful requests from authorities.
3. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android and Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) for iOS to send you real‑time alerts. These include:
- Charging session started / completed
- Low account balance alert
- Billing statement available
- DashSharing Program updates
You can turn off push notifications at any time through your device settings. However, disabling them may mean you miss important service alerts (e.g., a charging issue or payment reminder).
4. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers – companies that help us operate the app, such as:
- Payment processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) to send your earnings
- Cloud hosting (AWS Canada Central)
- Crash reporting tools (e.g., Sentry, Crashlytics)
- Identity verification services
- Electricians and installation partners – only your installation address and site access authorization, to install or maintain the charger.
- Legal compliance – if required by law, court order, or government request (e.g., tax audit, fraud investigation).
- Business transfer – if we are acquired, merged, or sell our assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before that happens.
- With your consent – for any other purpose we disclose to you at the time.
5. Data Retention
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
- Member account data – retained while you are an active member, plus a reasonable period after you close your account (e.g., to resolve disputes or comply with tax laws).
- Payment and earnings records – retained for 7 years as required by Canadian tax regulations.
- Site Authorization – retained for the duration of your participation in the DashSharing Program and for a reasonable period afterward to document our rights.
- Push notification tokens – retained until you delete your account or uninstall the app for 12 consecutive months.
When no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize your information.
6. Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access – request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correction – ask us to fix any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion – request that we delete your account and personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent – you can withdraw consent for certain uses (e.g., location tracking, push notifications) at any time.
How to delete your account:
Open the DashSharing app → Settings → Delete Account. You may also email us at privacy@dashsharing.ca.
Note: Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
We will respond to most requests within 30 days. There is no fee for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee for repetitive or excessive requests.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- Encryption of sensitive data (e.g., banking details) in transit and at rest.
- Access controls – only authorized employees can access your information.
- Regular security assessments of our systems.
Your information is primarily stored on servers in the AWS Canada Central (Canada Central) region, which is subject to Canadian privacy laws.
However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a security breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.
8. Cross‑Border Data Transfers
Your information is mainly stored in Canada. However, some of our service providers (e.g., payment processors, crash reporting tools) may operate servers in the United States or other countries. When we transfer your information outside Canada, we use contractual safeguards to ensure it receives comparable protection to Canadian privacy laws.
By using the DashSharing app, you consent to such cross‑border transfers.
9. Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- Posting the updated policy in the app, and
- Sending you an in‑app notification or email (for significant changes)
The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy will be revised. Your continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
